Hour of Coding
Students, want to learn how to create computer code, just like the famous Mark Zuckerberg the creator of Facebook. Now it is more simple and fun than ever! Check out this article, which includes all fun Coding Game websites! We will also be discussing coding in Library Class for the next two weeks. https://www.edutopia.org/blog/teach-kids-coding-resources-parents-matt-davis
Please let me know if you have any questions
I wanted to share with you all a website that I heard about that can be very useful with your children at home. It is called “Get Epic.” It is like Netflix, but for Books! You can access Get Epic via the website or app on the ipad, smartphone, etc.
Attention Kindergarten Parents and Guardians
This week, Kindergarten students will be talking about book checkout procedures. They will be bringing home a letter that must be signed and a practice book that must be completed. When they bring back both of these papers to school, they will be able to check out their first Library Book
Please let me know if you have any questions
Happy October Everyone !

Reading takes us all over the world!
It was such a pleasure meeting all of you this past week! I am beyond excited that I will get to spend time with you in the library until Mrs. Cirone returns in the Spring! I have so many fun and exciting activities planned for this upcoming school year in the library.
Our October bulletin board will have the theme of
“Reading Takes Us All Over The World!”
When you get the chance, if it is at the end of library class or if you want to pop into the library before/after school, please write down on a sticky note where you traveled to over the summer (State/Country) and drop it in the orange bin located in the front of the room. I am so excited to see all the amazing places you went to over the summer and to create a bulletin board that all students can look at these awesome places!
Get excited to check out books in a week boys and girls! I will be hiding Golden Tickets in Certain new books and old books that have not been read in awhile. If you find one of these tickets, please hand it to me when you check out your book and you will be able to pick a prize from the golden ticket box!
ps. you must check out the book with the gold ticket or no prize! The book’s name is written on the back of the ticket, so do not try to switch around the tickets!
Happy Reading Everyone ! :)
Don't forget to continue to check the Library Media Center's Website for updates!

So excited for this school year!
Ms. Freitag and Mrs. Cirone
Welcome Back: 2016-2017
Welcome to another school year at School One's Library! We have such a great year coming up filled with over 250 brand new books, new projects and ideas for the library, and much more! Another announcement will be forthcoming once it's time to check out books from our school library, but until then students will be getting acclimated (or reacclimated) with the rules and procedures in our library.
Also, we have Ms. Freitag joining us in the library this year as Mrs. Cirone will be on maternity leave until the spring. Feel free to reach out to either one of us throughout the year with any questions or concerns. We both have access to ClassDojo, Google Classroom, Remind, and email, so we will be able to help you as you need it throughout the year!
Parents and Students: Please follow me on Instagram for exciting updates from our library: @mrscironefles1
Mrs. Cirone (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Ms. Freitag (email@example.com)
This year, I will be using ClassDojo with students while in the library. ClassDojo is a tool that tracks attendance, participation, preparedness, and behavior in an easy-to-use format. Students will be rewarded with "Dojo Points" for positive, expected behavior while in the library and will lose points for any unpreparedness or unwelcome behavior. These points will be taken into consideration for report card scores and comments. Parents are able to track their own child's progress through a special code on www.classdojo.com or through the ClassDojo app. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for your child's special code.
OverDrive: eBooks in the Library!
Our district has just started an eBook collection using the OverDrive database. OverDrive is our new online platform for eBooks and audiobooks offering popular new titles, downloadable to Chromebook, Kindle, iPad, and other readers and devices.
Once logged in, students can start reading at school and continue where they left off on their device at home. Older children are able to borrow chapter books and high-interest nonfiction. Parents and teachers can also log in to allow younger children to view and listen to read-alouds.
